FULL MENU OF TRAINING

My Life My Choice offers introductory and advanced workshops about the sex industry and its devastating impact. Trainings aim to increase victim identification and improve provider response to exploited youth. Audiences include, but are not limited to, law enforcement; child protective services workers, school personnel, and medical providers.

See our complete list of trainings below as well as the next upcoming date and location for each of our trainings.

The Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Adolescent Girls: Understanding and Responding to Victims

Every day, young people are deceived, manipulated, coerced, and forced into the commercial sex industry. This multi-billion dollar industry targets the most vulnerable individuals in our communities. The Understanding and Responding to Victims Training gives service providers, law enforcement, and community members the tools needed to better serve this marginalized population.

Preventing the Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Adolescent Girls: A Training for Facilitators on Using the My Life My Choice Curriculum

The My Life My Choice Curriculum is a survivor-led, ten session girl-centered program created to develop and strengthen your efforts to halt the disturbing wave of commercial sexual exploitation and trafficking in the United States.  Created in 2002, the My Life My Choice Curriculum is used in schools, group homes, juvenile justice facilities, and community-based agencies.  We have trained facilitators in more than 30 states and Canada.

Advanced Clinical Training: Developing Skills and Strategies to Providing Effective, Trauma-Informed Clinical Services to Sexually Exploited Youth

The My Life My Choice Advanced Clinical Training is designed for mental health professionals, program-based clinicians, DCF workers, community-based therapists, in home therapy teams and private practice clinicians that are serving you who have been commercially sexually exploited.

Residential Leadership Institute: Advanced Training for Leaders on Creating a Safe, Effective and Supportive Environment for Sexually Exploited Girls

This training is for congregate care and residential program leadership staff (Program Managers/Directors, Residential Directors and Clinical Directors) and hones in on organizations’ CSEC policy, staff training, and practices around serving commercially sexually exploited youth. To ensure the integrity of the My Life My Choice Prevention Curriculum and create an environment that fosters best long‐term outcomes, we strongly recommend all programs running My Life My Choice Groups provide this advanced training for leadership staff.

A Collaborative Training with Boston GLASS: Preventing the Commercial Sexual Exploitation of GLBTQ Youth: A Module for GTSAs

This new one module curriculum training aims to support the exploration of the intersection between exploitation, gender identity and sexual orientation. As providers, we know that LGBTQ youth are at exponentially higher risk for exploitation due to many variables including, but not limited to homelessness, lack of family support and provider expertise in understanding the experience of LGBTQ youth and in general access to supportive services. Through this training, participants will receive a copy of the curriculum and posters to use in a one-hour session with youth.

A Collaborative Training with Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts: Engaging Commercially Sexually Exploited Youth in Conversations about Sexual Health

Commercially sexually exploited youth experience extreme trauma. This can impact their ability to build healthy relationships and exercise their bodily autonomy within intimate relationships, whether they are still in or have left “the life” of commercial sexual exploitation. Further, victims of the commercial sexual exploitation of children (CSEC) often feel misunderstood in traditional sexual health education and outreach program settings.
