My Life My Choice offers introductory and advanced workshops about the sex industry and its devastating impact. Trainings aim to increase victim identification and improve provider response to exploited youth. Audiences include, but are not limited to, law enforcement; child protective services workers, school personnel, and medical providers.

The Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Adolescent Girls: Understanding and Responding to Victims

Preventing the Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Girls: A Training for Facilitators on Using the My Life My Choice Curriculum

Participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Understand the research base behind the My Life My Choice Curriculum
  • Learn how to use the curriculum to run psycho-educational groups with vulnerable girls in a variety of settings
  • Explore potential challenges that may arise during the group

All participants receive a copy of the My Life My Choice curriculum and a one year membership to the My Life My Choice Online Community, a forum to provide resources and support to prevention group facilitators.

Applicants must have attended the My Life My Choice Understanding and Responding to Victims of Commercial Sexual Exploitation training (or an equivalent CSEC training); Facilitators of the My Life My Choice Prevention Group must have one or more of the following attributes: a survivor of the commercial sex industry, a master's level clinician, or service provider with a minimum of 5 years working in a trauma informed setting with adolescents.

Advanced Clinical Training: Developing Skills and Strategies to Providing Effective, Trauma Informed Clinical Services to Sexually Exploited Youth

The MLMC Advanced Clinical Training is designed for mental health professionals, program based clinicians, DCF workers, community-based therapists, in home therapy teams and private practice clinicians that are serving you who have been commercially sexually exploited.

Goals for participants in the Advanced Clinical Training:

  • Learn how to develop trauma informed clinical programming for exploited youth
  • Practical application of knowledge gained through prior attendance at Understanding and Responding to Victims of CSEC training
  • Learn strategies to having conversations with CSEC youth
  • Practice utilizing skills learned through role play, group discussion and small group work

Residential Leadership Institute: Advanced Training for Leaders on Creating a Safe, Effective and Supportive Environment for Sexually Exploited Girls

Goals for participants in the Residential Leadership Institute Training:

  • Develop a CSEC policy that can be seamlessly integrated and coincides with current program standards
  • Learn how to create a diverse, non-judgmental staff team that is prepared to incorporate key concepts into their work with girls who have experienced CSEC.
  • Develop trauma informed programming specific to sexually exploited girls
  • Advance skills and expertise around the trajectory of recovery
